How do I scale 3D models?

Learn how to scale 3D models within the zerolens studio.

Scaling of 3D Models

It is possible to scale 3D objects and products in two different ways:

  1. Uniform scaling
  2. Single scaling

1. Uniform scaling

Uniform scaling allows you to scale the object/product in size, so that the proportions will stay in the same ratio.

  1. Click on the 3D model that you want to scale in size
  2. Choose the "Scale Tool" or Press "R" on your keyboard
  3. Now Left Click in the Center (white cube) and Drag your mouse to create the desired size of the 3D model

2. Single scaling

With single scaling the 3D object/product will be only scaled on the selected axis. Make sure to use this option only in case you want to change the ratio as well. Be aware that some objects/products might not be suitable for single scaling, resulting in a possible loss of photorealism and quality.

  1. Click on the 3D model that you want to scale in size
  2. Choose the "Scale Tool" or Press "R" on your keyboard
  3. Now Left Click on one of the axis and Drag your mouse to create the desired size of the 3D model

Pro Tip: Press "U" to switch between the local and the global coordinate system when scaling objects.
